The dogs welcomed us home with furious barking. The cat stayed out for days. She replaced her litter box with the silken bedspread in the guest room. Years ago, the vet diagnosed this behavior as emotional insecurity. She recovered but her best friend suddenly left her and within a year, I left her too.
