The first book report I ever did was about Cher. I couldn’t shake her, even at 8 years old. It was the early 80s & she was absolutely everywhere, misbehaving and captivating me.
She was, in a word, inscrutable. Married to a little man who she outshone; simultaneously sexy and outrageously funny; and, I wondered, what was she? In a world of blondes, what was Cher? I was little, trying to define my world. Defining Cher mattered to me.
But definitions miss the mark with her. Always living by her own terms & blazing a trail for those who dared to follow, Cher was one of my original Taliswomen.
