I suffer from excruciating heel pain from Plantar Fasciitis, especially when I wake up in the morning. Last week, I learned that it is possible to reduce the pain with two exercises that take less than two minutes. They increase mobility and circulation in the arch and calf muscles. They work!

  1. Roll a tennis ball or mobility ball along the length of your foot for one full minute before taking your first step. Use light pressure. Just enough to get your blood flowing to the soft tissues on the bottom of the foot.
  2. Actively stretch your calf muscle group. Straighten your leg entirely and flex and extend your foot for 30 seconds, rather like ankle pumps; it warms up your foot and leg muscles, tendons, and fascia.

Try these tomorrow morning or any time of the day when you feel that heel pain.
