My baby kicked for the very first time,
It was simply magic to me.
And although it had probably happened before
At that moment I couldn’t believe…
That I’m growing a person, a human from scratch
From only the tiniest cell.
And from someone I loved but had never quite met
They’d grow to be one I know well.
The tiniest joy, a family to make,
A miracle sent from above.
The best little mixture of two different people
Half me and half who I love.
