A chill-inducing numbers game.

A few days ago, I published an article. It had to do with Prayer.

I tried to show that God may well be a part of everyone and everything. I challenged my reader to envision God as an all-encompassing “goodness,” instead of a deity in the clouds.

I toiled over the last two or three sentences, searching for the right grouping of words. Finally, after adding a word here, taking a couple there, I was finished.

I clicked back to “stories” to see the word count, hoping I had a four or five-minute article.

A chill came over me as I saw my word count: 999. My article had everything to do with Goodness. It was a theme. Now, the word count was a perfect inversion of 666: a number associated solely with evil.

I felt Goodness speaking.
