Here’s My Problem With The “For You” Feed on Social Media

It’s simply not what I’m looking for

The other day I logged into Medium to read some stories while my baby was asleep. So I went upstairs to read via my desktop.

I logged into Medium and there it was.

The “For You” feed serving me articles I didn’t want to read.

I wanted to show my students some examples of trending stories from specific topics I’m following but instead Medium showed me what I needed to read.

Boosted stories.

Only Medium has the human Boost on other platform the algorithm decides what you will see or not but the problem I have is still the same.

I don’t see what I want to see.

These stories isn’t what I signed up for.

It abandons the concept of my membership altogether.

Instead of seeing stories from writers I selected to follow, social media wants to tell me what to read.

That’s not the concept of the follow.
