Seen: My new grandson can see more of the world. At 7 weeks, he’s alert to what’s going on — sort of.

Heard: Babies this age can focus on faces. But my daughter says if I want D to go to sleep, avoid eye contact. If I lock eyes, he thinks it’s playtime.

Noted: Recent toy sales in the U.S. totaled $3.27 billion. I don’t think we’ll have to invest too much in this regard.

Quoted: “He stays awake a lot more,” I told Moker, who’s sitting solo soon. “Turn on the ceiling fan. He’ll focus on that.”

D’s new nickname? “Blade Runner” — just not as complicated.
