Copywriting Fundamentals

High-Converting Copy Starts with This Simple Rule

The one rule you should not ignore

--

Copy that converts is, above all, clear.

The Rule of One helps you keep your copy clear and specific by focusing on one thing: One goal, one reader, one offer, one promise, one call to action, and so on.

You ask the reader to subscribe to your email list or buy your product. You don’t ask both.
You promise he will lose weight or gain muscle. You don’t make both promises at once.
Either offer her a 50% discount or a 75% discount. Don’t offer both at the same time.

When you put too many competing messages in your copy, clarity gets lost, and conversions go down. The strength of your message dilutes and the reader gets confused. There’s nothing worst for conversions than a confused reader. Confusion makes people stop reading.

Follow this rule every time you write any piece of copy.
