I got the Claps on Medium all Wrong

I’ve been active on Medium for a few months and was amazed at how many people read articles. Thousands of claps! Wow! That was before I realized that claps are not the same as likes.

Yeah, for months, I treated claps as likes: one per person. Well, nobody told me otherwise! As a reader, you can only see who gave the claps, but not the amount of them per person. So naturally, I thought that 1000 claps equal 1000 people.

I only noticed that when I clicked on the claps for my own article and found out that some people clap up to 50 times! That’s me now. Amazingly, we can show the author our appreciation for their writing by the number of claps.

So don’t be greedy. Press that button a few times!
