It’s Official — Boost Nominators Don’t Care About Writing Quality

I’m starting to lose respect for Medium

I just read a boosted article and it was…trash. The author seemed incapable of using plural nouns, or just words ending with an ‘s’ in general: think “a problem for many writer” and “what to do if it happen to you”.

Then, the one time they did use a plural, it was a possessive plural and did they put the apostrophe in the right place? No, they didn’t use one at all. It was harrowing.

I get that a poorly punctuated story can still be compelling, but Medium claims to care about quality writing. About “expertise”. Maybe I have particularly exacting standards, but if I picked up a newspaper and found the first article was full of typos, I would put it back down again. And I certainly wouldn’t trust their “expertise”.

I wouldn’t buy it again either. Maybe Medium doesn’t care about repeat visitors?
