Just imagine, if the pencil could feel, how painful sharpening would be, but that is what it takes to be a useful pencil.
Life is just the same. Painful experiences and challenges will come our way, but through these opportunities, we build our character and grow. We need to get sharpened to take out the best of us and leave a mark.
Likewise, we will correct as many mistakes in our lives, just like an eraser.
But if we choose to learn from our mistakes, then these mistakes can be useful lessons, which we can use them to our advantage and do better the next time around.
