Dueling parts of me argue about my 1972 Texas birth. Maybe my soul orchestrated it — but maybe it was all a horrible mistake. Regardless, I’ve always felt out of place.
Perhaps that’s why Little House on the Prairie had such an influence on me. The TV show based on the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder premiered when I was a toddler and was a mainstay as a child. Maybe I would’ve been happy in the 19th century. I begged my mom to sew long dresses and bonnets for me.
I often got in trouble for reading instead of listening to the teacher lie about slavery & genocide.
