There’s a saying in Nepal:

You learn either by reading or by experiencing.

I learn only through experiences. This has been particularly true in the past ten years. When I panic at something when it’s too late, others remind me how I should have done things at the right time.

But that was the first time I had experienced it! How could I have known this would have happened?’ I think back.

And then I look back at the last ten years of my life to see what I have spent most of my time doing.

All I have done is read a lot of books and dreamt of being a writer, I realize.

It’s ironic, I was supposed to be the one who learns things by reading!

Q: What’s going on?

A: Today, I learn only through experiences because of the fact that I have read a lot.
