Life Doesn’t Owe You
A stoic poem on life
Yesterday, standing in my kitchen, I contemplated life — the chaos, the injustice, the sheer unpredictability. The world felt overwhelming. But I paused, remembered my stoic learnings, and took to my notebook. I let the words spill, and this is what came out.
Life doesn’t owe you sense,
Life doesn’t owe you purpose.
Life doesn’t owe you meaning,
Life doesn’t owe you justice.
Life doesn’t owe you reason,
Life doesn’t owe you fairness.
Life doesn’t owe you love,
Life doesn’t owe you reverence.
Life doesn’t owe you wealth,
Life doesn’t owe you status.
Life doesn’t owe you comfort,
Life doesn’t owe you happiness.
Life doesn’t owe you peace,
Life doesn’t owe you permanence.
Life doesn’t owe you anything,
Life just is.
Why wait for it to owe you
More than being alive?
You owe yourself everything,
You owe yourself a life.
