Life Lessons From The Stomach Flu
Your perspective can change on a dime.
Within just a few hours, I went from feeling great to kneeling on the bathroom floor hugging the toilet, my gastrointestinal system in turmoil. I couldn’t keep anything down. Soon my world closed in with nothing on my mind except getting loose from the virus’s grip.
I hoped it would only last a day. By the third day, I couldn’t remember when I had been so sick. By the sixth, I began to feel human but had no stamina.
Looking back, I learned some things:
- Feeling good and being rested should never be taken for granted.
- After hours staring into a toilet bowl, gazing at a sunset now fills me with joy.
- The attention and kindness of a loving caretaker is a gift beyond words.
- You know those things you thought you had to do? You didn’t.
- Gatorade® is a miracle liquid.
