Long ago, before fast-food franchises had spread beyond the US, my wife and I spent a glorious year living in Latin America.
Almost every day we fantasized about eating a Big Mac as soon as we got off the plane in Miami on our way home.
And, we did!
But, a surprise awaited us.
After a year of eating mostly whole foods with great spices, that first Big Mac tasted like a flavorless piece of nothingness.
