Just who benefits?
How many of us hesitated over the extra expense ($5 to $15) to upgrade as a Friend of Medium?
Yes, we’re giving back to the community … but are we also benefitting?
Let’s investigate.
A yearly FOM subscription is $180.00 ($15.00 pm).
If paid in one go, it reduces to $150.00 ($12.50 pm).
Friends of Medium, however, enjoy four times more income from their reads.
If our regular monthly earnings are, say $25, this equates, over twelve months to $300. Multiply this by four and we’re seeing $1,200.00. Deducting our $150 subscription, our profit becomes $1,050.00.
These figures are broad strokes and there are many variables, not least that most or all of your readers would need to be Friends of Medium, but you see the potential.
So yes, the community benefits but (taking a deep breath) so can we.
