As a child, the day after Labor Day marked the start of Fall. School started after Labor Day, and pools and amusement parks closed for the season.

Unlike southern states, the weather changes at the start of Fall in Michigan, and the Great Lakes are even more beautiful than in the summertime.

A trip to the Apple Orchard was a true sign that the season had begun. Nothing tasted better in Fall than hot apple cider (made with freshly squeezed apples) and homemade cake donuts. Yum! Some memories never go away!

Of course, a trip to the Apple Orchard always included a Hay Ride.

Those are my memories of fall growing up in the northern state of Michigan, USA. I would LOVE to hear your favorite fall memories.
