Stolen Pair of Ruby Slippers Currently Valued at $3.5 Million Worn by Judy Garland in the Filming of the ‘Wizard of Oz’ Was Recovered in 2018, But No Charges Have Been Filed Until Now

Judy Garland was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The Judy Garland Museum in her home town commemorates and celebrates her talent, her fame, and her personal history. (See details and visuals in the link to the museum website below.)

In 2005, the museum had on loan one of the four original pairs of ruby slippers that Judy wore in the 1939 world-renowned movie The Wizard of Oz. Someone entered the museum by smashing an emergency exit door window, broke into the case that housed the ruby slippers, and disappeared with them. They went missing for 13 years.

In 2018, a sting orchestrated by the FBI tracked down the red slippers to a location in Minneapolis. Another 5 years elapsed until the alleged perpetrator of the crime was announced: 76-year-old Terry Jon Martin.
