How apposite that Pamela Phatsimo Sunstrum’s first solo exhibit at the Barbican comes saturated in autumn hues.

It Will End in Tears arrives in the midst of one of the better colour displays I’ve seen in London in years. At the same time, inside the Barbican’s Curve, we are asked to immerse ourselves in this artist’s life-size paintings.

Femmes fatales, colonial outposts, and boundary-crossing and -breaking artworks reflect Pamela’s peripatetic life across three continents: Africa, Asia, and America.

It is her notion of home in the context of autumn’s nostalgic raison d’être that captures my attention. This is an exhibition not to be missed.

You can buy me a coffee here.
