Today is Earth Day, and like many other days of note that we celebrate or use to raise awareness, it is a day that perhaps we should consider all year round.

I wonder if, in 50 or 100 years time, will we still observe Earth Day?

Will we still loathe the significance of our impact over the last few hundred years versus the few million it has taken the Earth to form?

If humans are still around, that is. A day like today is a cause for celebration, not remembrance of what we have lost.

The 2024 theme, championed by eathday.org, is Planet vs. Plastics. The aim is to demand support for a 60% reduction in the production of ALL plastics by 2040.

Is this ambitious and achievable, yes! We have a track history of finding a way when there is a will. Better today than tomorrow, though!
