She slaps raw meat into the tray.

Her fingers under running water shine clean. She carefully dries them on the kitchen towel hanging warm above the oven.

He had been asking to eat lasagna for two weeks. A surprise he will appreciate, she thinks smiling.

The ingredients sizzle in the tray.

She tastes it with her eyes, the mince melts in her mouth. She delights, thinking at the pleasure the first bite will give him.

She takes the tray out of the oven and savors the sweet smoke surrounding her nostrils, dips the finger into béchamel, tomato, meat, and quickly licks the red sauce scolding her tongue.

She used only the thighs, the tenderest part.

The lasagna is on the table.

He will enjoy them. He liked so much biting those thighs.

She tosses the scalp into the organic bin. Even her head can be recycled.

“Darling, dinner is ready.”
