Short Form Introduction: Melinda K. Dooley

Enthusiastic Biologist and Educator

--

I don’t particularly care about football, but my cat was named after a Texan. This is a Colorado state park, summer of 2021 (image provided by author).

Howdy, do. I’m Melinda K. Dooley, though you may call me Millie.

I’m a teacher, a learner, and a person with depression. Oh, and a Texan — that’s obviously important, too.

I’ve also been a writer most of my life, though it varied how seriously I took it. Lab reports and essay questions were my bread and butter through my bachelor's at MIT and master’s at Sul Ross, but I’ve focused more on journaling lately.

After dropping out of medical school, I pursued teaching — at first, full time, but depending on the depression, it was more or less successful. First more, then less.

Now, I’m a concierge educator, and I tutor and teach part-time. The urge to explain permeates all things in my life, though, so here I am on Medium.

I also have cats (image provided by author).

I hope to make your acquaintance.
