Speaker Nancy Pelosi has stepped down as House Democratic leader — and I’m worried about what’s next.

I’m not talking about the Democrats’ future in the absence of her leadership; The party is not without its stars.

I’m talking about whether her political opponents will see her decision as the result of the violent attack against her husband last month.

I’m talking about whether zealots or ambitious politicians — Red or Blue — will now view violence as a viable path to defeating the opposition.

Republicans wanted her gone.

The Speaker’s fierce leadership and formidable negotiating skills led the Right to vilify her to such an extreme, that a Canadian — a Canadian FFS — cracked her husband’s skull with a hammer.

Pelosi says she’s stepping aside to make way for the younger generation.

But is that how the crazies will see it? Or will violence be their preferred strategy?

Yeah, I’m worried.
