Recently, a giant Chinese balloon that drifted into US airspace has been making the headlines.

But this post is not about that. Instead, let me introduce you to the balloon flower!

🎈 They’re also known as Chinese bellflowers

🎈 The inflated balloon-like buds are fun to pop. All balloons share that characteristic.

The infamous balloon that was shot down. It might have been fun to pop too, but we won’t talk about that here (Photo from Wikipedia)

🎈 Balloon flowers stand for endless love, honesty, and obedience. That’s right, endless.

🎈 Once prepared, you can eat them. Especially the roots. Koreans make balloon flower root tea, balloon flower root sweets, balloon flower root desserts, and even infuse the root in liquor (doraji-sul).

🎈 A helium balloon can float to an astounding 19 miles up to the edge of space. A balloon flower is better. It doesn’t leave the ground. So, no chance you’ll lose it!

🎈 Balloon flowers have surveillance cameras inside them (that’s a lie to your face).
