I find it fascinating how cultural practices evolve and adapt with time. What was once common in certain parts of Asia is now recognized worldwide.

When I was living in Japan years ago, I frequently saw people wearing masks while out and about. It wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic that I fully grasped the reasons behind this practice.

Masks are meant to help protect others from any illnesses the person wearing the mask may have.

Nowadays, it’s becoming more common for people to wear masks when feeling under the weather. I have noticed more locals in my city wearing masks occasionally during flu season or in areas with higher transmission risk.

Some folks use them to stay healthy, and others use them to prevent the spread of any potential sicknesses.

It is great to see people embracing the use of masks to protect themselves and show consideration for others.
