The Heaviest Weight Is Not in the Gym, I Carry It Around
Why you should mark your attendance in the gym parking lot, not the gym floor.
If working on my fitness is like building a house, then I laid half a brick today.
Not a full brick, just half.
But that half was very important because while it wasn’t my strongest day physically, mentally, I was David Goggins.
Only managed 12kg dumbbells today, probably because my mind had to push against 100kg of resistance just to get to the gym. Yesterday, that resistance had been near zero.
- Just sleep in.
- You worked out yesterday.
- It’s cold, dark and foggy outside.
- Give up already.
- Your bed is warm, the gym is not.
- Tomorrow?
Damn, I had to battle all these thoughts at 6 am?
But I persisted.
As they say, the only workout you regret is the one you didn’t do.
This is me, post-gym, saying I am mentally stronger today just for showing up and doing my best — even if my best wasn’t my peak.
