The Man who let Me help
Day six of the 10-day short form challenge
20-year old me was just bopping along in the grocery store shopping. I was picking up something for my aunt. Eventually, I ended up in the checkout line. In front of me was a cute kid, and what looked to be his grandfather. When he went to swipe his food card it wouldn’t work. He kept trying, and the cashier kept trying, but nothing happened.
The man was confused as to why it wasn’t working and was about to leave without his groceries. I told the cashier I would pay for his groceries. It felt normal to me, but others around me made it seem unusually kind. I ended up crying in my car because acts like that should be seen as normal.
