Narcissists have a gift for luring you into their web.
At the beginning of the relationship, they shower you with compliments and rave about how wonderful you are. You’re put upon a pedestal so high you have to look down to see the clouds.
You trust them. So you share all your secrets and tell them things no one else knows. You reveal your insecurities, your deepest fears. You feel safe with them and thus bare your soul, leaving you exposed and vulnerable.
It’s at that moment when the narcissist goes in for the kill. Everything you’ve told them, they now use against you. The qualities they used to praise they now attack you for.
The narcissist’s ultimate betrayal is tricking you into trusting them with your life.
So later they have all they need to try and destroy it.
