One thing that causes anxiety upon waking is hearing a loud a** alarm. The solution? I keep my alarm volume as low as I can possibly hear and choose a subtle alarm tone.

My parents woke me up with a bright light and a loud “Good Morning!” That’s already two steps too far for me. Here’s a better plan:

  1. Use the lowest volume on your phone alarm (make sure your phone isn’t too far away, but not too close either).
  2. Use the alarm “hillside.”

“Don’t wake up your neighbors early in the morning with a shout of ‘Good morning!’ They will treat it like a curse, not a blessing.” — Proverbs 27:14
