Oscar Wilde wrote: “In this world, there are only two tragedies. One is not getting what you want, and the other is getting it.”

That is the danger of obsessing over success and realizing it is not exactly what we wanted.

Money and power are unable to satisfy the indescribable hunger of the soul. We can conquer all the desired goals, achieve our entire wish list, and still feel empty. We acquire the desired status and feel dissatisfied.

We overlook the essential fact that the triumphs that our society rewards are won at a high cost. This is a truth that is hard to admit.

Achievements come with a heavy toll to pay, and the actual outcome of what is sought is less spectacular than previously anticipated.

We think that with more money, we will obtain greater pleasure. Yet, we are like hamsters caught in a wheel.
