The Xbox Game Pass one-dollar trial offer is as confusing as Trump’s sweeping global tariffs, but allow me to unravel this mystery.

The one-dollar deal still exists for the Netflix-style, “all-you-can-eat” gaming subscription service, but it’s only available for two of the four tiers.

What was once a one-dollar, 14-day trial for the highest tier (Ultimate) is now a door-crasher for the PC and Standard tiers.

The one-dollar deal has gone through many iterations over the years, mostly bad, and unfortunately, it looks like the best version of the deal was pre-2024, when that same dollar got you one month of the gaming service.

Why the trial offer has been revised so many times is baffling and goes against all of Xbox’s previous consumer-friendly moves.

All that said…

Xbox Game Pass is still the best deal in gaming.
