Journaling and keeping a diary are different things.

While keeping a diary is a recount of events, thoughts, and feelings, journaling is a more analytical approach to writing.

You’re digging deeper into the details and not merely recalling or talking about it as if you’re speaking to a friend.

The purpose is different: self-discovery.

This is mostly by understanding your triggers and what led you to feel or act in certain ways.

Journaling helps you make sense of it all in a way that you can learn to respond appropriately.

What are the things that you have always believed about yourself? Why?

How did these beliefs come about? Try to think of the moment that made you believe this about yourself.

Now look at them. Do you still deem them as true?

More often than not, it’s not.
