This Week’s Joy: Pajamas

A woman with long brown hair wearing red plaid pajamas sits cross-legged with a cup of coffee on a kitchen table. The exposed brick wall behind her has assorted kitchen items on a single, long, black metal shelf. Above that is a series of black-framed cupboards with assorted bottles and jars. Just visible, to the left, is the right edge of a white refrigerator.

After a long day, I get home and feel grimy. The early spring temperature had climbed from cold to cool to warm, and the air was moist. “Moist.” Not a word that many people like. It’s cloying sound matches my sensation of clinging dampness. I want to change my clothes. I want to, immediately, feel fresh. I rush to change into the loose yet crisp comfort of newly-washed pajamas.
