During a recent shopping trip at my local Walmart, I saw a sight that made me groan in disgust: Halloween-themed cookies, along with other pastries and deserts, decorated in fall colors.

It’s August and in my local area, the temperatures are averaging 90–100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Christmas In July, Amazon Prime Day, and the overall rushing of the holidays for a buck is a new low for capitalist greed.

Don’t know about you, but I’m sick of off-season holiday sales events designed to keep us in consumption mode to benefit retailers’ bottom line.

The holidays aren’t about sales and shopping. They aren’t about deep discounts and great deals.

They are about relationships. So, I am opting out of the deranged, rushed, year-round holiday shopping trend.
