HAPPY HOUSE PLANTS
Wake Up for the Stunning ZZ Plant
From Kenya to South Africa
Zamioculcas grows from forests to riverbanks in eastern Africa. They tolerate neglect well. You’re most likely to harm it from overwatering. It propagates easily from leaf cuttings, division, or rootballs.
Stay alert because it tops NASA’s study for houseplants that filter the air. The study showed how it filters indoor pollution like benzene and formaldehyde better than the control group. Maybe ZZ plants will go on the new Artemis missions.
ZZ Plants get their name because they look similar to cycads. Cycads are an ancient plant genus that predates the dinosaurs. Look out for cultivars like variegated and Raven. They produce smaller flowers that resemble their peace lily cousins.
