Today, there’s little remembrance of January 19, 1946. I discovered this in my research to learn who I am and where I came from.
This day, 75 years ago the first 1,000 people were loaded on cattle cars and deported from Buaors, Hungary. By February the small village was bare.
My family never spoke of Vertreibung of 1946. Was it shameful? Why wasn’t this taught…
