World Mental Health Day is October 10th. The theme this year is “Making Mental Health for All a Global Priority.” Why is mental health so important?

  • One in eight people live with mental health issues.
  • Covid-19 caused a 25% increase in anxiety and depression worldwide.
  • 84 Million people were displaced from their homes due to war or natural disaster in the last year, disrupting mental health services.
  • 45,800 adolescents (aged 10–19) die every year by suicide.

How can we help?

One of the most important things we can do on an individual level is to help destigmatize mental health issues, and to encourage others to seek help. World Mental Health Day is all about spreading awareness of these issues.
