I wrote about the time my sister refused to give her guinea pigs water. It was a pretty awful state of affairs. We managed to rectify the situation, but I’m worried there might be a repeat of this experience.

I’ve considered reporting her for animal cruelty before. But the case was always borderline, and it would destroy our relationship forever. It takes a lot for an animal to be removed from its owner. And her theory that her guinea pigs could survive without water seemed to play out in the evidence that they’d lasted three weeks and weren’t dead yet.

Nonetheless, we felt it necessary to intervene. I’d have to be very sure of harm before I reported my sister for animal abuse, but I’ve come close. Animals rarely do well in her care. It’s sad. She doesn’t want animals, but succumbs to pressure from the kids. Here’s my story…
