I wrote about the time my sister refused to give her guinea pigs water. It was a pretty awful state of affairs. We managed to rectify the situation, but Iā€™m worried there might be a repeat of this experience.

Iā€™ve considered reporting her for animal cruelty before. But the case was always borderline, and it would destroy our relationship forever. It takes a lot for an animal to be removed from its owner. And her theory that her guinea pigs could survive without water seemed to play out in the evidence that theyā€™d lasted three weeks and werenā€™t dead yet.

Nonetheless, we felt it necessary to intervene. Iā€™d have to be very sure of harm before I reported my sister for animal abuse, but Iā€™ve come close. Animals rarely do well in her care. Itā€™s sad. She doesnā€™t want animals, but succumbs to pressure from the kids. Hereā€™s my storyā€¦
