Gossip is underrated. We tend to think of gossip as a negative behavior.
But, there is good and bad in everything.
Social scientists define gossip as a talk about something we can make a moral judgement about.

As long as it is helping others understand the social world around them and analyze their own beliefs and feelings, gossip is educational.

Like stories, gossip has a threefold perspective:

  • external: something unexpected happened.
  • internal: you reflect on how you would have handled it yourself.
  • philosophical: you observe the impact it had in the community.
And you learn something from it.

Next time you gossip, analyze each of these perspectives.
How do they make you feel?

This is what you need to trigger in the stories your write.

Gossips are nothing else than short stories with great twists.
