If you want to make money writing genre fiction, you need a good plan.

I did not come up with these ideas. I’m stealing like an artist from writer Maria Secoy who wrote The Truly Successful Author.

Tip #1: Write four books a year, not twelve.

Tip #2: Write 800–1000 words per day. Finish writing most of your book in 8 weeks.

Tip #3: Get Amazon to help market your book by using SEO tactics.

Tip #4: Schedule simple marketing tasks into your plan, e.g., announcing when you’ve finished your first draft on social media.

Tip #5: Take advantage of pre-orders. They keep you accountable and let your readers know when the next book is coming.

Tip #6: Start your next book while your first book is with your editor.
