UEFA ‘A’ and NSCAA Premier licensed coach Gary Curneen recently released The Modern Soccer Coach 2014, which offers practical advise to the coaches looking to improve team performance.

Curneen also posted an article on These Football Times, a website founded by four English academy level professional coaches, in which he posits “…to be successful in the current climate, the modern coach must be partners with their players and sell their vision every day.”

He goes on to cite “Top flights coaches like Pep Guardiola, Brendan Rodgers, André Villas-Boas, Jürgen Klopp and José Mourinho…[who] possess a compendium of coaching, management and leadership qualities that can only be possessed or acquired from a progressive, player-centered way of thinking.”

Will NYCFC embrace this idea of the modern coach? Do rumored targets Jason Kreis and Guillermo Barros Schelotto meet the standards suggested by Curneen?
