August 2023 Update* — While the lessons documented below are still valid, I am currently not operating these stores. For several months after I wrote this piece, I kept selling and switched platforms. I’ve made some slight updates to this article to reflect these changes.

Cheers.

I (*used to*) run two Etsy stores: Roses from Bones and Infollyble Ink.

Roses from Bones is a writing, art, and music project that inspires people to live on purpose and die without regrets.

  • I launched Roses from Bones on Etsy in September 2021

Infollyble Ink is a project that fuses esoteric themes and edgy humor. It’s kind of an “anti-brand” made up of random ideas that my partner and I come up with when we’re hanging out.

  • I launched Infollyble Ink on Etsy in January 2022

Below, you’ll find 5 strategies I used to grow both businesses throughout the recent spending slump.

1. The Title Is For Robots; The Description Is For People

The challenging thing about e-commerce copywriting is that you have to write for both humans and robots.
