There are so many ways to market your blog posts, but Pinterest is often overlooked. I’ve recently started adding all of my writing to Pinterest to increase traffic to my Medium articles and other websites. Curious about trying it? Read on!

Why Pinterest?

Pinterest has more global active users than Twitter. There are 431 million monthly active users on the platform — that’s a lot of readers for your stories and articles!

While Pinterest’s users have historically been predominantly female, the gap is narrowing. Today roughly 60% of users are women, and nearly 30% of the audience is women between 25–34 years old. So if you’re writing things that will appeal to that audience, you definitely want to get active on Pinterest to reach them.

Making Your Pins Stand Out

If you want to reach a lot of people, you’ll want to make a visually appealing pin with great tags.

Pinterest wants pins to be 1,000 x 1,500 pixels. I create my graphics in Canva — there are tons of templates available. Design an eye-catching design, save it as a JPG, and upload it to Pinterest.

When you upload, you will give your pin a title and short description. Use good SEO-optimized copy…
