Google’s latest update(s) completely killed SEO and blogging is dead, forever.

That’s something you might’ve recently read on Reddit, X, or heard on your favorite blogging podcast.

People have been forecasting the death of niche blogs and SEO for over a decade. And while Google’s recent update has put a dent in many bloggers’ search traffic — mine included — I believe blogging is not dead.

However, I don’t think the same is the same as it always was. Things change. People change. Businessess change.

Being able to adapt and succeed is part of being an entrepreneur. Owning a blog and following the guidelines others have laid out for you to succeed isn’t enough. You have to step outside of the box if you want to be successful in today’s ever-changing landscape.

Here’s why.

What happened?

First, to understand the future, one must come to terms with what has already happened. Can’t look at the next steps if you don’t know what’s happened in the past.

Google recently rolled out several updates in September and October 2023. These updates were meant to make search results more helpful, integrate AI, and weed out blogs and answers that were misleading.
