ASSOCIATED PRESS — A new initiative was launched by Airbnb this week that hopes to address a widening gap in the company’s diversity numbers.

“There is a large disparity between the number of Dirks to non-Dirks at Airbnb,” explained VP of Human Resources, Michael Spear. “Frankly, I see this as a huge embarrassment for the Airbnb team. We aim to fix this by setting more ambitious hiring quotas for guys named Dirk.”

When Airbnb engineer Jessica Sion was asked how many guys named Dirk she knew at work, Sion responded “probably one”, but that she “didn’t even know if he worked here.”

The company announced that after the dearth of Dirks is rectified, they will launch similar initiatives for people named Olaf, Gumbo, Флорентина, and Joseph Gordon Levitt.
