How My Daily Life Has Become Easier
I believe that this project has come within a very important crossroad in my life. Before I entered college life was easy not much work to do, schoolwork was easy, and always going out. I mostly just did my own thing.
Even Freshmen year wasn’t hard because I took most of those classes in high school so I didn’t have to study much or apply myself. Then this year, Sophmore year things have seemed to change for me since I’ve started this project. In the beginning of the semester of this year I had the same thoughts and values of school just go to class and it’ll be easy.
When this project came around though it changed my perspective. Before hand I would go to class and just go on my phone and not even listen to the professor or take notes which I now realize is one of the worst things you can possibly do because you get nothing out of it, I might as well have not even gone to class.
Once I started actively listening and writing down notes and asking questions everything seemed to fall in place. I went from not knowing anything about my sociology and accounting classes to receiving A’s on both of my exams because I started LISTENING to what my teachers have to say.
I actually enjoy going to class to hear what my Professors have to say. And I’m more than sure I will never miss class again because when you listen it puts a new perspective into your life which can make task such as school easier like it did for me.
I have also recently joined the University at Buffalo Marketing Club to further enhance my business Career. The other day I went to a key speaker presenation. Jamey Phipps the President of Gelia, a very profitable and successful marketing firm. Before I had listened to Jamey I thought the marketing world was just a basic and easy one; esentially you just create ads and display them to the general public. However, he brought up one example of when listening really made a huge turning point in his career. He had been at a major conference with over 50 firms competing for one client, once the big presentation was over each frim was given 45 minutes to present why they should be able to obtain the account. Jamey said that during the presentation the company was giving they had made a small note of big business and small business which he had used to his advantage. Once he went and id his presentation he mentioned how his company Gelia has always been a friendly small comapny willing to work with you and provide what you need. Needless to say he obtained the account and hav been thriving with them ever since.
Listening, it can be whatever you make of it. Whether you receiving better grades or signing multi-million dollar dealks it will always be a helpful tool we should rely on.
