Dear loyal supporters and friends of the Singapore STEM Club,

This is a very difficult message to type out. We are postponing all of our physical events planned to take place in March, April & May due to the developing coronavirus situation.

As your no doubt aware, it’s become increasingly clear over the last week that we must all do our part to help slow the COVID-19 pandemic in our community. The pandemic has passed the levels of containment in Singapore and we, unfortunately, saw the passing of two individual recently. It is now more important than ever that we act as socially responsible citizens and take decisive action to protect ourselves and others.

We target the youth of Singapore, but the youth are not immune to this virus nor are they not able to spread it to others. Whilst you may feel that you only have mild symptoms, take responsibility and save lives. We recommend you follow all government recommendations. This virus is extremely deadly for the elderly and people with chronic health problems. Young people, you may be at low risk, but your grandparents aren’t. Think of them. We all have a part to play in this fight.

Last night we were alerted by the Ministry of Health that all events scheduled before April 30th must be cancelled.

All events and mass gatherings (e.g. conferences, exhibitions, festivals, concerts, sporting events, trade fairs) must be deferred or cancelled, regardless of size.

- Ministry of Health statement on March 24, 2020.

We will abide by all regulations and recommendations from any government agency. We all must remain socially responsible. We have gone the extra mile by cancelling all May events due to the unstable situation they would be in.

We do still, however, have an online event that those passionate in the areas of STEM can participate in. We recommend you join us for the digital Local Hack Day: Share. You’ll learn new skills and get to show off the amazing projects you’ve been building to the world!

Our thoughts go out to the unwell, those in quarantine, the affected families and those stranded due to new travel restrictions. For our global friends, stay safe and take care we hope you can all get through this situation.

To our registered participants, we will be getting in touch on the further steps we will be taking to ensure you still receive these wonderful opportunities.

Stay safe!
