How to Write for The Sixth Sense

Welcome to The Sixth Sense! We love that you are considering to write for our publication! In this article you will find all the information necessary for contribution.
Get Added as a Writer
This step is super simple. Just fill out the form below and you will be added as a writer within 24–72 hours. Depending on your settings, you will receive an E-Mail by Medium that you have been successfully added to the publication.
What we are looking for
The following article will provide you with the information, in which topics we are generally interested in and in which we are not.
A publication can choose up to five tags. We have chosen the following ones:
You don’t have to use these five tags for submissions, but at least include one of them in your post.
Additionally, every article we publish must be placed behind the metered paywall. This makes sure that:
- Your article is eligible for distribution (Medium curators can select your story to be curated, which makes it available to a wider audience)
- Your article can generate income (All of this money goes to the author, Medium will pay you at the end of the month, we don’t cut anything from that)
To be able to monetize your story, make sure you join the Medium Partner Program. Placing your story behind the paywall is beneficial for you, as well as for us.
Unpublished drafts
Stories that have already been published before, don’t have much potential for generating additional traffic once we accept them.
Thus, make sure to only submit unpublished drafts! This guarantees for your article to face maximum exposure, which is beneficial not only for us, but also for yourself.
Writing guidelines
We don’t want to limit your creativity, so be creative! There is only one rule we want you to follow:
Keep it simple.
We are focused on Minimalism, thus we prefer a simple and easy-to-read writing style. Say only what needs to be said and let go of unnecessary side-information.
1. Article length
Generally, we prefer shorter stories (~3–6 minute reads), but if you need more words to express yourself, feel free to do so, as long as you only provide the necessary information, remember: simplicity is key!
Stories below the 3 minute mark are going to be rejected.
2. Style guide
As said, we don’t want to tell you how to write your articles, and we are open to accept creative approaches. However, to maintain a consistent reading experience for our audience, consider reading our style guide before submitting.

Be sure to avoid the mistakes described in the following article. This ensures that your story is eligible for Medium curation.

- Go to your story
- Click the “…”-Button at the top of your screen
- Select “Add to publication”
- Choose “The Sixth Sense”
- Click “Add Draft”
- Click the “Submit”-Button at the top of your screen
- Wait patiently until we publish your article. (~24–72 hours)
