Part of being human is suffering. Regardless of gender, creed, ethnicity, or any demographic we humans like to use to differentiate ourselves, we will face challenges, worries, and pain. Pain is a valuable teacher. It is why we know not to touch a hot stove or how we have learned to survive as a species against other predators.

However, while we all suffer, some suffer more than others. I am not talking about the unique hand the universe has dealt us all. Our consciousness and how we perceive things around us are often powered by circumstances and molded by factors outside our control.

Everyone deals with anxiety; it’s a natural and self-defensive mechanism to keep us alive. However, I deal with generalized anxiety disorder, which allows me to take any problem and compound it. If I let the brain run its course, I will have the worst possible outcome. Or I say damn the consequences and ignore inner safeguards and make poor decisions. I like to explain my brain as like the person that has a runny nose and goes to WebMD and diagnoses themselves with Stage 4 cancer. With those results I will either have a complete overreaction or shrug my shoulders and be like it’s only cancer all while completely ignoring signs that I may need help.
